The Controversial Blast Technique
The Controversy : With good timing and quick reflexes top players of populous are able to win a shaman blast fight . Those shamans fights are very crucial, in maps like face off this fights takes place in the very beginning of the game and the winning team can have control over the center hill which is a good advantage throughout the game.
Is this a GLITCH or a BUG or just an EXPLOITATION of a feature that's already in the game.
The trick : The trick is to use blast spell at such a time so that when you are falling from the enemies blast attack your shaman would balance herself in air right before she strikes to the ground resulting in minimum damage. Also when you blast yourself if your blast hits enemy shaman it would damage her as well. Mastering this trick will definitely be hard but its worth it.
Explanation : The damage done by blast hitting the shaman is fixed and is small, during shaman blast fights the shaman gets thrown in to the air and then she drops which makes her loose a significant amount of health, although, this damage done by the drop can be avoided. To do that you need to time your own spell (it can be any spell) so accurately that the shaman spell cast animation triggers when your shaman is dropping down from enemy blast spell throw, this will cancel most of the height she dropped and will only cause damage relating to remaining height that she'll drop with.
MY Conclusion : The blast technique is a technique not a glitch, this was in the game mechanism and was a completely thought out trick according to me, why you ask?.
Simple, all the stats and data related to spells is in the constants (which can be tweaked now), and so is the blast damage value, its fixed in the constants, so the damage done by blast itself is minimal, major damage is done by drop height.
One can say its the input lag of casting animation which causes this bug, if it was instantaneous, the blast fights would go on forever since everyone will simply spam blast, no one will get dropped or thrown, and the blast damage will take almost 5-6 blasts directly hitting the shaman to kill her. (BORING)
Yes I agree it is hard to master the timing, but once mastered it is worth all the practice. This shouldn't be taken off and should be continued in practice in the game.
